Good News. Since the Court’s began remote hearings for divorce and child custody hearings each District Court and the Associate Judge’s Court had differing remote procedures. Since lawyers were often not receiving notice of which Court a case was assigned to until just prior to the beginning of the hearing, this created a mad rush to both figure out what that Court’s procedures were and to comply with them.Travis County Judges Zoom Rules (002) (1)
The new uniform procedures alleviate that problem. The most challenging part of these rules, however, remains the organization of exhibits. The need to have them all in pdf form, pre-marked and bates numbered means lawyers and clients need to have their exhibits well thought out and planned. Unlike the good old days where you might show up with the case file and improvise with paper exhibits, you cannot do that in the zoom era.
